I saw a program on TV last week about a dog(in UK) which is trained to monitor his owner's condition on a permanent basis. The owner has epilepsy and the dog detects an imminent attack up to 15 minutes in advance and alerts the owner who can then prepare for the attack. The dog would then prevent the owner from getting up too quickly after the attack also. Pretty amazing I thought. A side benefit of having the dog is that the lady's frequency of attacks has dropped from 7-10 a week to 1-2 a week. Believed to be because of reduced stress levels - no longer worrying about when the next attack will come (being a menieres sufferer I can appreciate that!)
