I just tried this.

change width .032; <enter>
auto; <enter>


and this had no effect as far as I could tell

I tried two commands at once and this doesn't seem to work either.

I tried the wire .032, then auto - doesn't do anything

I bet the default is set somewhere, but I can't find it.
