I do recall now - we had a small 'box' from
someone called Audit Control Systems I think
it was - that would query and download the
Mars box data in DEX (Data EXchange) format - we
mimiced that box's protocol in talking to the
Mars box.

I think that the ASCII ENQ and ACK and several
other characters in that 'character' oriented
comm protocol were used too.

There are reference guides available - but the
responsible companies might want to charge for
them ...
