Fair enough, my question was pretty vague. Does anyone know of any tutorials that teach more about IPX? I know nothing about it, so something that can teach me how addressing and network layout works as a start would be good. Bill has mentioned different protocols, so perhaps there is a layer system like TCP/IP? I have been doing a bit of google searching, so far nothing has popped out as an outstanding resource. IPX is BASED on the Xerox XNS protocols, which you should be able to find documented. The basic packet format is exactly XNS, and I think the reliable bytestream protocl (SPX) is also the same as used by XNS. The routing protocol is only subtly different (bit me, a long time ago), but you shouldn't run into that.) It has essentially the same layers as the TCP/IP suite - levels above transport get munged together into particular applications... We were able to find enough documentation of the service advertisement protocol (SAP) to not have much trouble implementing it, but I don't recall where it came from. I suppose I will have to talk to the originator of the system I wish to interface to, and see what IPX protocols he is using. This will be true regardless.
