Well, after lots of searching and headaches i eventually decided to forget getting my warp 13 programmer to work under linux, esp with a 16F628. So i went searching for some other ways of staying out of windows. I came across picprog and immediately built the programmer. I had some teething problems, but eventually managed to the the programmer jaakko modified to work with a 16F628. There are some tricks to it though. For one, on my PC the extra 10K at RTS killed operation for any programming. Could be that my serial port is just one of the weaker types. For another, a 16f628 needs to have RB4 grounded during programming. Connect this to the negative side of cap C2 ( the 100uF one ) and voila, it works. Thanx to Jaakko for his program. I can now completely get rid of windows on my home machine. For any piclisters in South Africa, esp in the Port Elizabeth Area, Im selling my WARP13a programmer (still works perfectly, but not in Lunix). If you want it reply to me off-list please or phone me at zero eight two nine zero three five six eight six Regards John -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
