Smack it on it one of its edges. It is possible that the heads have stuck to the platter and the shock will dislodge them. Used to happen quite a lot on early (20MB) Seagate drives. If the heads are really stuck, they will tear off when the drive motor spins and you'll hear some horrid noises from your now junk drive. If the electronics are toast, you can try swapping them with known good electronics from another IDENTICAL drive. Your bad block tables will be wrong, depending on whether the firmware stores them or reads them from a 'protected' area of the drive, but you should be able to retrieve your data. Have you tried connecting JUST the power connector to the drive? I have had instances where a reversed IDE connection has prevented a drive from spinning up.
