Sorry, I relied more on the article to explain what was going on, than
comments in the code.
The method of access I described in the article is the "common memory"
mode, which was the only way to access the card with 8-bit data, in the
interest of saving I/O on the PIC.  However, all modes of access follow a
pretty similar scheme... load the appropriate registers with a particular
location, load a command register with a particular command, and away you go!
