Ohh !!!!!! It remainds me "War against terrorism". So you, like me, are against USA4s wayof "legally" killing people ? -----Mensaje original----- De: pic microcontroller discussion list [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU]En nombre de apptech Enviado el: Lunes, 07 de Octubre de 2002 17:49 Para: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Asunto: Re: [OT]:Cracking a software is not a nice thing > > >http://www.propic2.com ; not bad if you find the crack <<<<<<-----<<<<< >> We make a great effort to make an affordable software >> and some people still use cracked version. >> This makes me sick. > And you are the "nice guy" that had never used a cracked software ;-) The argument "you do it too", which may of course (just possibly :-) ) not be what Marcelo is saying here, is one of the most feeble and despicable objections that I hear in all walks of life in attempts to justify essentially unjustifiable behaviour. An action, whether software theft, murder or some other crime is not less or more acceptable just because specific other people do or don't participate in it. Attempts by many people to justify their actions based on what others do (or may do, or are thought to do) is a significant factor in the increase in "crime" in all its variants. If we can convince ourselves in our own minds that what we do is acceptable it ceases to be a crime to us, or at least ceases to have moral stigma to us. And before we know it we are adding to moral (or rather immoral) entropy :-). Note that I am not taking the moral high ground here personally or even defining morality in general - just commenting on a spineless lily-livered weak-kneed gutless (can't think of any more good epithets :-) ) but all too common response * when such ground is to be traversed. In the specific case here I note that software theft is theft and that people who steal software are thieves, regardless of mitigating circumstances such as how much you earn, how poor your country is, whether you would not have ever bought it otherwise, whether you will pay for it when you finally earn enough, how terrible running dog paper tiger xxx imperialism is. But whether or not people such as Bill Gates or others do or don't rip off other people's software from time to time does not alter the fact. Theft may in various circumstances be more or less justifiable but it's still theft. That other people also steal does not redefine the crime. Were you suggesting that theft is OK by you Marcelo and/or indicating that you are a thief, or have I/we taken a wrong meaning from your posts? Russell McMahon * - Do I fall into this trap as well? Of course I do. But I really try not to and I feel that the demands of self respect would lead most others to want to do so as well. -- http://www.piclist.com#nomail Going offline?
