I just cracked my very first piece of software. The sealed CD of a 5-versions old software I bought at the library book fair didn't come with the needed license key... Never cracked anything before, although I'll admit to not paying shareware fees for assorted ultities that I use once in a blue moon, either. OTOH, i understand that Microsoft (amoung others) wants to make sure that you can't buy (cheap) old software and still have it run. It would be against the license agreement, and the net would be used to enforce that license agreement. As a would-be-frugal consumer, I find the idea rather distasefull indeed...
