Not free, but http://www.al-williams.com/netporter.htm will read serial data, parse it via regular expressions, and then save it, e-mail it, server it on the Web, FTP it somewhere, etc. I know of people who have used this to parse data from serial instruments, save the data to a comma delimited file, and then load it into excel.
