Oh, I dunno.  I was just tossing it out as an example of one protocol
commonly used in systems that digipeat packets to get them to their
destinations.  I suppose one could use it for a lot of things.  I don't
think you can use FRS (if that's what you were referring to) for digital
modes, though, can you?  Not that I particularly care much.
