Exactly what is the problem with your XP and parallel port?

If it won't run a pic programmer or such it may be because the=
 God of
Laptops did not make all LPT ports adhere to the same standard.=
 In
laptops to save on battery power you can find that LPT1 and=
 COM1/2
actually operate at a lower voltage thatn required by their
respective standards.
