It depends on your code (that's the beauty of firmware--you get
to choose!).    Most likely, if your routine goes and reprograms
all the timer registers then it is going to start over, that is,
it will "add your time routine to the first" as you say.

There could be something about the timer that prevents this but
since no one has said as much I imagine you'll get the effect I
described.  To be sure, post your code as Michael suggested.
