if you're looking to put a clean windows install on the drive:

- make a dos boot disk (presumably the mention of NTFS means you're sticking
windows on it)
- boot from it.
- run fdisk.
- then format.

alternatively, you can use the formatting tools with the winnt/2k/xp
installer, but they're a bit fiddly in comparison.

if you're got the money get Partition Magic, it's a very nice graphical tool
for repartitioning.

if you're attaching the drive to an existing system, just plug it in, then
locate the drive manager section (should be listed seperately under admin
tools for NT4, will be under admin tools->computer management for 2K/XP.)
