So you don't worry: there is a way. They make programs that do this. This why most encryption programs not only delete a file, but also "wipe" the disk drive i.e. over write with zeros. There is probably free software that will do this. After backing up HDD files to a CD I deleted both the HDD originals (which I wanted to do) and also accidentally the CD files. On the HDD they were in a folder but on the CD they are loose files, so it didn't register that I'd deleted the same thing twice. I was checking the CD and just lost track of which folder I was in when I dumped them to the Recycle Bin, which was then emptied, so they ain't nowhere no more. The space on the CD is still occupied by the files (~100MB) although of course there are no file names shown. I'm hoping there's a way to re-enable them. I'm using Win98SE and the CD is set up for access as a file drag-drop drive -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
