Ffnally I have to admit I don't really know how to use a vacuum desoldering
gun properly, but web-searches pop out all kind of product information,
nothing instructive.

Any URL to recommend?  I would want to know what kind of care to give to the
desoldering tip.  Do I need to tin them?  I tried but solder does not stick.
And if I don't tin, the heat does not seem to flow to the pin well.  And how
to desolder on pin that has a huge-heat sink, like those soldered to the big
ground plane (please assume I cannot cut off the component) ?
