It works for low current. For higher current use a p-mosfet for the +
line. You can use a n-mosfet if you can put the 'diode' in the ground.
2N7000 works fine here (rdson ~ 1R). N-mosfets are inexpensive even if you
use one with >50A and <10miliohms. So it pays to arrange for the gnd line
to be 'interruptible'.
