I take it this is addressed to others than myself, for I am calm. I am merely looking for background and underlying reason as to why the data from various parts of the world shows anomolies, is sometimes missing for weeks on end, etc. I don't know if everyone is aware, but LARGE amounts of temperature data from around the world is taken by civil personnel whose main responsibilities are NOT in the field of meterology. Some of these persons can be hotel operators and post office employees (like otherwise this data just magically appears in the databases?) Is anyone here familiar with the process by which this data has been manually collected, massaged and archived over the years? Thanks.
