Wow, I practically got to the end of this thread before anyone
asked some obvious questions.

And what if BTFSS malfunctioned?  How would you "test" for that?

Yet, even the IBM PC BIOS had (has?) instruction set tests.

Am I insane?  *I* don't think so!   :)
