All, Why is it that some people get mad because Microchip didn't write MPLAB the way they think it should have been written? Or with the features they want? Or the speed? And on and on and on. In my opinion, Microchip is doing us a favor by supplying free development software. Something they don't have to do. But, after all, they are doing this from the goodness of their heart, hoping (I guess) that you will go on to HLL's and 3rd party stuff. And as such, MPLAB may not be as good as some 3rd party software, but again, MPLAB is free. 3rd party software is not. So from my point of view, MPLAB is an excellent piece of software considering it's free and readily available. The 3rd party folks turn out excellent software and hardware, but they get a substantial premium for their hard work. Something Microchip doesn't get (at least directly) from MPLAB. So my advice is either accept MPALB for what it is, or go and spend your money for something you do like and has the speed you're looking for. The bottom line I guess is... "What do you expect for free?" Regards, Jim > Don't get me wrong, I like Microchip, and I like the way that they > provide their development software for free.
