I=B9m a newbie pic enthusiast, who=B9s already built my first couple of projects, but am looking at smoothing out the development cycle a bit. I=B9m searching for a programmer I can hook up to my mac that does the following: * serial only (mac only has usb, would get a usb/serial dongle) * supports most of the pic family of chips (16F, 16C, 18C, the more the merrier) * is supported by MPLab environment (to be run in Virtual PC) I=B9ve got an old laptop I=B9m using now, with a somewhat ok way of gathering i= n the hex code generated by mplab to feed a parallel port programmer, but tha= t damn pos is slow and unreliable, with only a parallel port cdrom that no longer works, and only a stuck hardrive from total uselessness ( I had to give it a good whack last time just to get the harddrive to spin, again), and I=B9ll be damned before I by a new pc. Any other macophiliacs out there who have gotten this to work? Would be interested to know if you could get that serial port to interface to such a specified programmer, either linux/osx, and the ability of vpc to hook up i= f possible.
