Yes 16 bit ID Number will be good enough. The values would not be greater than 50, but the device must have buttons like a calculator so that the user must manualy enter an ID Number, and the device must look up the ID Number and if it exist then it must ask for it's value and the user must then enter the value. Actualy it must be able to stor 4 values for each ID Number. I actualy want to help a dairy farmer who got the PC software with all his animals and each animal have got an ID Number. Then he must be able to updload all the ID Numbers and take the device with him where he enters the ID Number and the device must look up the number and ask for it's value (amount of milk). But some of the farmers milk the cows 3 or 4 time a day. When he is finished he must be able to go back to the pc and upload the days milk.
