I specifically designed the TLVP so that the programmer would take a limited amount of time and money to put together. An afternoon tops for getting the parts, assembling and testing the programmer, and programming your first chip. It's trivial on purpose. But you still need to realize that there are hobbyist and students whose time is infinitely less valuable than money (which they usually don't have).
