Tried, but they are so plenty!

This seem to be a switcher controller with extra comparator/timer for firing=
 the discharge SCR.

Now i have schematizised the unit and plan on attempting redesign the thing=
 using a stock switcher controller + extra ckt.

Yes.  I remember repairing an audio power amp with unusually marked=
 transistors "PT7".  As spare part they were ridicously expensive, so i=
 threw in dirt cheap ones i had on the shelf (The PCB layout was terrible=
 anyway, the cost for that crap was only marketing obviously...) , and the=
 wannabe audiofile owner said they sounded better...
