Brendan, Check here: http://www.hvwtech.com/intro-fpga.htm This might be just what you're looking for. Good luck! I don't want to have to deal with SMT, since I just want to experiment with it for now, and in general, SMT isn't great for that. I know that there are SPLDs that are DIP, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. What I want is a FPGA with at least 24 internal registered bits, and programmable I/O pins (I.E. input or ouput selectable using the config). I know a little about FPGAs, enough to know that they accept a config stream on powerup, and once that is revieced, they begin to operate much the same as a SPLD would, except that there are interconnects in a FPGA, whereas there are none in an SPLD, which only has registers on outputs, and all blocks output to a pin, not back into the chip. One thing that I want to implement is a PS/2 host/slave on the same IC, with an 8-line databus (with the standard control lines), 2 interrupt lines, and some miscellaneous I/O. I don't think that this should be terribly difficult to implement on a FPGA, but I don't know if I can find a small, cheap FPGA that would do the job. I think a 28-pin DIP that was an FPGA would probably have enough I/O, in terms of physical pins. Now, I know that I can implement a PS/2 controller or slave on a PIC. I've done it. I even posted the source, though I get the feeling that no one liked it. Anyway, does anyone know of an FPGA that would suit this? I've looked on Xilinx's website, and while I may have missed something, I didn't find what I wanted. - --Brendan -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGPfreeware 6.5.8 for non-commercial use iQA/AwUBPUqz6AVk8xtQuK+BEQI99ACgtmbQcJiHk196TLXF2fMTfm2/QHsAniEI eosA/XZVNEDVMYWY2X7ys1Fb =4ZtZ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
