A lot of my programs are a few thousand lines of code, and I have no trouble with writing them in assembly. I guess it just depends on what you're used to. And I'd rather write a program in 1000 lines that actually REQUIRES 1000 lines rather than getting 1500 lines for the same program out of a C compiler.
