That's pretty vague considering that I've never seen one.  Got anything more
specific?

I live in a city with a fairly big tech sector, so we have an "Active" (part
of FAI, www.future-active.com ) and an Electrosonic (www.e-sonic.com)
branch, as well as a few other places (I don't know how far Intek extends,
and I'm pretty sure that RPE is a local operation with no other branches.)
The closest thing to "beginner hobbyist shops" we have is RPE
(www.rpelectronics.com).
