Hi Folks Just trying to see what can be done with a 16F87A, I tried to kick it over with an RC oscillator as described in the various MicroChip appnotes. (Resistor from supply to oscillator pin, capacitor from pin to ground) I can't seem to get it going. It starts OK with all the crystals I have, anywhere between a couple of hundred KHz, all the way out to 16MHz, but not with a resistor-capacitor pair. I have tried 40pf/5K (5MHz), 20pf/5K (10MHz), 40pf/6.2K (4MHz) plus other combinations that are equally reliable - in that they don't start! I am doing this on a breadboard, so I guess there is plenty of stray capacitance - is this the problem. - ? Suggestions, comments, abuse ... Peter L First posting here, so please excuse if this has been covered a million times already. (I can't find anything helpful in archives). -- http://www.piclist.com#nomail Going offline?
