Yes, it's very doable IF the video card can read closed captioning. Some chip sets can't see any video data before line 21, and would be blind to your data transmission. You'd then have to make sure your data was on a line that was readable, probably starting at line 23. Look for info on VITC (vertical interval time code) and CC closed captioning to get a bootstrap on how it's done.
