I remember reading an article in a National Geographic Magazine about some guy who was into photographing hummingbirds, and he set up a fan beside a suitable bait, and the birds would fly in from downstream, along the air current. He got to a point where he had the fan on suck and the birds would do the same thing. He also tried changing from suck to blow while the bird was in the air current, the only thing he wasn't prepared to try was going from blow to suck while the bird was in the air current.
