I want to use a compactflash card for PIC16F877 data logging. But I am uncertain about how to record the data in a way that will allow me to subsequently insert the card into one of those little readers attached to a Win2k USB port and transfer the data to my hard drive. Here is where I am: #1. Presumably, I can just write the stuff with the 877 and come up with some primitive VB program to read the data from the compactflash card a sector at a time OR #2. Utilize a FAT16 format with the 877 and just drag the file off the compactflash card and into my hard drive. (I would prefer not offloading the compactflash via rs232). As I recall, some time ago someone was working on compactflash FAT support for the PIC. Did they ever complete the project? Any other ideas? Any help or comments will be greatly appreciated....
