I believe MPLAB V5.x still requires you to put ALL your working files in the MPLAB directory. It makes it pretty messy. Ver 5.x (16 bit version) has a number of bugs and issues that have only been resolved in the new 32 bit version that has been recently released in beta version. It still however, when set up properly works just fine for the current PIC's available.
