I am new to PICs and I need help in a project of mine. The PIC16F84 that I
was using is exhibiting some erratic behavior. I loaded a program that I
wrote that toggles the state of RA0 every second using the TMR0 timer. I
have seen this program work before (it was my first PIC program) but it does
not toggle RA0 at a steady rate like it used to. I suspected the oscillator
(32.768 kHz)considering it looked like a timing error, but a test with the
digital multimeter proved me wrong. As a test I loaded another program that
toggles the state on RA0 every time RB0 is pulled low. Sometimes it does not
change states and other times it changes without pulling RB0 low. Are these
symptoms of a bad chip? Any help would be appreciated.
