Hello all, this is my first time back on the list in a long time.

I always used MPLAB and the High-Tech C compiler in the lab at school to
program the 16F877.  Now that I am doing this stuff at home, I am tired of
always having to program in assembly!  I am still a student and I can't
afford the ~$850 for the High-Tech compiler... What can I do?

--> Also, I have heard something about gpasm, gputils, etc.  I have also
read a little on C2C, CC5X, etc. for Windows.

Bottom line, what is the best, FREE, way to program my 16F877 in C?
Next, what about programming my 18F452?
