Hi, This definitely falls into the other topics heading. I have a Shibaura Alternator assembly and Regulator that I acquired for my sailboat diesel engine. It's a permanent magnet type Alternator part # 185046210 and Regulator part #185516060 (Just in case someone has the correct manuals). I was told it's a 15A Alternator. The Alternator has two Blue leads that create the AC for the Regulator. The Regulator has six wires: two light Blue Black Red Yellow Green Can anyone look up in a Service manual for a garden tractor or some other engine that might use this type of Alternator/Regulator and perhaps identify what wires go where? I would imagine most of the units out there using this type of alternator probably have a similar wiring mode. What would be the maximum RPM of this type of Alternator. I've tried the searches on Google etc. and lots of tractor links among others but nothing shows up that could help me. I'm guessing that the Regulator blue wires go to the alternator. That the Black is ground and the Red is to the battery. That leaves yellow and green. One is probably an alternator light and the other ???? Anyone have any idea how this type of regulator works. I'm thinking shunt type that just clamps the voltage at a preset point. Or a series pass that regulates the output and just allows the output to go to maximum under no load conditions. If worse came to worse I could scrap the regulator and roll my own but for convenience (I'd rather go sailing) it seems easier to use the existing part.
