Josh,

Why not get a 1 ohm or likewise crazy low value resistor, and then
measure the voltage drop across it?  It doesn't take that much to
measure 600V...600A across 1 ohm would give you that.  If you can find
an accurate ohm meter then you're good to go (i.e. count resistance of
wires, etc.).

What kind of wire is rated for 600A, anyway?!  (wow!)
