If you take a look at Table 15-1 on page 150 of the current 16F873/4/6/7 datasheet DS30292C you'll find that the minimum operating Vdd is 4.0 volts. So according to the table, the probability is 0 percent that the part will run. The reality of the situation is that it may function at 3.3V. However it'll be out of spec. Now if you get a PIC16LF876, which Digikey has in stock for $8.08 in singles, the probability goes up to 100 percent according to table 15-2 on the same page.
