When I first started this experiment I used my room's
two-bulb fixture, as this was where bulbs blew most
often and thus was the biggest PITA. With a 47R
resistor on just one bulb, I could not tell the difference
in brightness between the two. Using 2 x 47R is noticeable
and too yellow to work under, but suitable I think for places
like a passage which just needs any illumination and
where the bulb may be on for long periods
