Hi Stuart, I saw you are in Aust too, you can get a
5 inch UVC tube from altronics/jaycar for about $25
AUD, and here is a 240vac driver circuit that you can
make with two caps and resistors:

I have this setup and it works great, always starts
and erases PICs in about 4 minutes although I usually
give them 6. :o)
