All of the libraries are pretty easy to edit to your liking.  Soon after I started usign
eagle I began to develop a custom library to get parts to my liking, or to use sutom
parts that aren't in anybody;s library.

Type INFO and pick the part you want to edit.  The will tell you which library it is in.
Go to LIBRARY:OPEN and open that particular library, then go to EDIT:PACKAGE and change
the package you don't like.  You probably can't delete a pad once it is in use, but you
can change it's size.  Save your work.

Back in your program, go to LIBRARY:UPDATE after you have saved the library, and your
board should change.
