Although you are correct with respect to the datasheet, it (almost) never harms to include some extra decoupling, the maybe 100 cap's you will waste over your lifetime will sooner or later save you hours of frustration. And in the same line: *always* include a fools diode (1n400x) over each power supply, to short it when it sudenly turns out to have the opposite of the intended polarity (note: when your power supply is heavy, like a switcher from a PC, you will need a bigger diode).
