I DON"T want to start a language war here as I'm NOT asking for the relative merits of Java vs , but I'm wondering if people out there on the list are interested in embedded Java? I'd just as soon not hear from anyone who wants to bash Java, but instead see how many people are interested. Is there an interest in Java programmable embedded controllers? mailto:james@piclist.com?subject=EMBEDDED_JAVA_YES If so (and if you have a minute to type) what types of IO are most important? Ethernet? SPI? Serial? I2C? How many digital IO lines? Analog inputs, analog outputs ? USB ? Is real-time support critical? Can our little chips (PIC / SX / ARM / etc...) execute bytecodes fast enough to be useful? I'm thinking about adding some jini and other embedded java documentation to the site. --- James Newton, webmaster piclist.com (former Admin #3) mailto:jamesnewton@piclist.com 1-619-652-0593 VM 1-208-279-8767 FAX PIC/PICList FAQ: http://www.piclist.com or .org -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
