Hi all, I am working on a simple program (for a PC) that needs to talk to a PIC over the PC serial port. This is something that I have done many times, but this time, I am developing it on a Win 98 machine and it needs to run on a Windows XP machine that I do not yet have. I will be the only one using this program, and I'd like to be able to run it on older computers, too, so I'd like to avoid making it a windows program. Can a regular DOS program run under XP and access the serial port? Can it modify the PC's interrupt vector table to install a serial port handler (which my standard DOS-based serial routines do)?
