Aha! Lyle, it looks like you haven't discovered the SECRET FILES that go along with Eagle. No doubt you have heard of eagle's ULP and Script capabilities. Both of these are user-extendable programming languages that allow people to add functions to Eagle. One of the ULP's I use is called DRILLPLAN2_0.ULP, and the other is DRILLCFG.ULP. Together, they count up all your holes, and create a nice drill plan on your drawing showing the symbol for each hole size, the count for wach hole size, and the total number of holes, and make an excellon drill file. The ULP's I use on every single job are: Smashall (makes it so you can move the part names separately from the parts) Auto-Dim (there are several names for this one, automatically dinensions the board) drilplan2_0 (makes a drill plan on your board layout) drillcfg (makes an excellon drill file) dxf.ulp (makes a DXF out of Eagle for autocad import and printing) in that order. Check out the user download area on the Eagle site, there are dozens of useful ULP's. Eagle is really not complete without at least this minimum list of ULP's. -- Lile ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hazelwood Lyle" To: Sent: Tuesday, May 14, 2002 9:34 AM Subject: [EE]:Eagle Layout help Hi, Thanks to all for the discussion on Eagle. I'm just learning it, and have gained something from every posting. How can I get a Hole Count from the PC board for cost estimating purposes? Are there any "Gotchas" that I should look out for before submitting my design for production? TIA, Lyle Hazelwood -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
