How about a stiff wire inside a spring?  Connect the wire to one leg of the
circuit and the spring to the other.  When the spring moves (you can even
put a small weight on the end of it to make it more sensitive), it will
contact the wire inside (line the wire up lengthwise through the spring) and
close the circuit.

Not my idea, but I thought it was great when I saw it implemented in a
product.
