Missed a bit of this thread, but (if memory serves) the WDT is controlled by
a config bit in the 16F84.

I am using a 18C452, in that PIC you could enable or disable WDT using a bit
of WDTCON register.
Don't know wich register 16F84 uses for this purpose.
