I use boards from M.G. Chemicals (www.mgchemicals.com). They have a white peel-off layer over the resist. I actually thought all pre-sensitized boards had this, otherwise I would never have said to cut resist side down. As for how the resist gets damaged, it's hard to tell, but I think it must be the "snap" when it's cut. Narrow cutoffs have more damage that wide ones, absolutely, not relatively. Or at least that's what I think today. Put adhesive paper strips on the cutting table around the wheel and keep it clean all the time to avoid this. Resist scratches cause cut tracks in narrow tracks (20mil and under). Some resist is more prone to scratches than others. The least prone is the kind that comes with peel-off black paper shields. It's also the most expensive ...
