Hi, [EE] community! I can't come up for the brisk discussion of the gold etxtraction somewhere in South Africa, so my question will be a sort off topic, sorry. You know those microcontrollers with built-in RS-232 boot-strap logic (some golden PICs, some Atmel Megas , others). Did anybody hear of a chipmaker, who announced, he would maintain a WWW service, that could enable someone to program his blank application boards. Just attach one of the standard app boards to COM port, click on a selected (sub)program, then it will do the rest. I am about to make a strategic choice what line of controllers to use. I need not to dig in all this developer's toolkits. I am full up with this DOS-like style of life, eternally reinventing a wheel. What I need, is to work in usual MS environment with all this activeX, reusability, automation stuff. Do I love or loathe Microsoft? I don't know. What I do know, it helps me making my living.
