I saw something similar for cattle herding on TV. Each cow was given a collar which had speakers by the cows ears and a small electric shock device. By making a soft(ish) noise in one ear, the cow would be made to turn the other way. As a final resort an electric shock can be applied to make the cow turn. A GPS system checks where the cow is, whilst a uC in the collar decides what limits to apply for the cows movements. The clever bit is that this "virtual ranch" can be slowly moved from one place to another. This way the grazed ground is continously changed and you can gradually but automatically move a herd from one place to another. No long journeys by lorry any more! Like most good ideas- simple but clever at the same time! Ben -- http://www.piclist.com#nomail Going offline? Don't AutoReply us! email listserv@mitvma.mit.edu with SET PICList DIGEST in the body
