There might be some useful information on Intersil's (the makers of the prism II chipset used in DLink's cards) site about the similarities between the PCMCIA buss and the Legacy ISA buss (http://www.intersil.com/data/AN/AN9/AN9874/AN9874.pdf). I'm sure theres a way that you could emulate one of them. Here (http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/Wireless.html) is some info on the wavelan chipset (which I believe you have) and drivers. I know that a similar project was done by some college students to send data from a buoy to a computer. They used an 802.11 card and a micro controller to send the data. There was not any technical information on the page, but you could always try to contact one of them. Search the piclist archives because I can't seem to find it on Google again.
